The importance of a metabolic approach to anti-ischemic protection
نویسنده
چکیده
Trimetazidine acting as a metabolic agent reduces symptomatic and silent ischemia – the total ischemic burden. Its cellular action in improving myocardial metabolism is cardioprotective and may explain the improvement in left ventricular function seen in the failing heart as a result of its use. The metabolic approach to myocardial ischemia is becoming increasingly important, with symptomatic and potentially prognostic benefits. Heart Metab. 2007;35:1–3.

Arterial ischemic stroke (AIS) in adults is considered a serious health threat and requires urgent medical treatment. Prompt diagnosis allows the therapeutic option of thrombolysis within the time window of 3 to 6 hours after first symptoms. Alternatively, early anti-platelet therapy is effective in improving the outcome after stroke. The incidence of pediatric AIS range from 2 to 5 per 100 000...

Myocardial ischemia (MI) resulting in infarction is an important cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide. Acute ischaemia rapidly impairs myocardial contractile function. Myocardial dysfunction persisting for several hours after transient non-lethal ischaemia, eventually resulting in full functional recovery is termed as myocardial stunning. Hibernation is now thought to be...

Abstract Background: Childhood leukemia, the most common type of cancer in children and teens, is a cancer of the white blood cells. As antioxidants can promote immune system against all types of cancer, the aim of this study was to explore the metabolic regulation and anti-oxidative effect of sesquiterpen-rich extract of Ferula Asafoetida (FA) on children with leukemia. Materials and Met...
متن کاملThe Effect of Pre-Conditioning Endurance Training on Neurogenic and Anti-Neurogenic Factor in Hippocampus of Male Rats Following Ischemic Reperfusion
Introduction: Binding of mature brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) to tyrosine kinase B (TrkB) receptor leads to cell survival, while proBDNF binding to p75 receptor leads to cell death. Thus the aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of eight weeks pre-conditioning endurance training on BDNF, TrkB, proBDNF and p75 levels in the hippocampus male rats following ischemic re...

Objective: Dietary changes playmajor risk roles in oxidative stress andcardiovascular disease and modulate normal metabolic function. The present study was designed to investigate the ameliorative potential of different extracts of Hemidesmus indicus to experimental high-fat diet in wistar rats, and their possible mechanism of action. Materials and Methods: Male wistar rats were divided into 6...
